This binding style is available as a private workshop. Nota bene: There is no companion recording. But there is a charming illustrated multi-page handout with step-by-step instructions, which we will mail you a day or so after your workshop session. No previous bookbinding experience is necessary; a bit of glueing experience is a plus.

This flat-lidded box is a pleasing cube (3 x 3 x 3). Handy for all manner of small desk accessories, from erasers to washi tape and, of course, paper clips. Elegant for keys. Smart for jewelry.

Be inspired: Each of the five boxes shown here was made by a student, from start to finish to button embellishment.

What you’ll make: You will construct a box from pre-cut pieces of binders-board. You’ll cover and line your box with Japanese papers, and then embellish the lid with a lovely button or two.

Class fee includes all materials we use to make a box: Japanese papers, pre-cut binders board, and two different buttons.

Tools needed: Bonefolder, teflon bonefolder (highly recomended), X-acto knife, scissors, ruler, small triangle ruler (optional), PVA glue & a glue-brush. You can purchase these items individually here, and I am pleased to offer a 20% discount on any tools ordered for the workshop (via refund after your workshop purchase).

Ancillary tools needed: pencil, scrap paper for glueing on, and a cutting mat, a heavy weight (or book) for pressing your box.
