Black-and White-Ink Brush Pens
Black-and White-Ink Brush Pens
These plastic pens from Japan are My Absolute Favourite Brush Pens. The ink truly is waterproof, and I speak from experience. The tips are made of bristles (not of felt), so this really is like drawing with a brush. Once you’ve drawn with the pen, you can wash over your work with watercolour without even a smidge of smudge.
The black-ink brush pen is disposable, in the sense that you cannot refill it … but it is exquisitely essential for drawing & writing. The ink flows evenly (even without squeezing, which you don’t do!). Once it’s empty, you can keep using the brush, and dip it in other inks.
The white-ink brush pen’s coverage is somewhere between opaque and a wash. Squeezing gently provides a smooth flow of ink. If you are so inclined, you can refill the pen using a syringe. To create a variation in your line, try dipping the tip in a bit of water. (I know this thanks to Julie Wildman.) Great for drawing and for calligraphy.
Delightful details: These pens feel great in the hand, with thier built-in band of rubber. The cap snaps on snug-ly to prevent any seepage.
All pens are presented in our complimentary signature wrapping: a handmade Japanese paper bag, sealed with our favourite washi tape of the day.
