Expressive Cursive Handwriting

Expressive Cursive Handwriting

Instructor: Julie Wildman

Saturday, July 14 — 11am-2pm

Limit: 7 students (also offered as a group class for an event or gathering. Add to Cart & email to request a date & time).

In today’s world emails and texts are the norm, schools are doing away with teaching cursive, and the handwritten note or snail-mailed card is fast becoming extinct.

If you are one who loves the personal touch of a beautifully written note on fine paper, sealed in an equally fine envelope, then this class is for you.

Students will learn the Italic cursive form, which conforms better to natural hand movement and requires less pen lifts than the traditional US method. We will then explore ways to embellish the cursive using flourishes and elegant capitals.

We will also write sample letters and learn some tips on how to address envelopes. Suggestions for paper, fine pens, and other embellishments will be given.

Class fee includes all materials to begin your daily handwriting practice; Papers, pens, envelopes, vintage postage. And Julie’s inspirational handout to take home!

Our studio is light-filled, airy, and organized. You are welcome to browse our extensive library of books about bookbinding, calligraphy, and drawing.

We look forward to sharing our love of fabric, papers & boxmaking with you in this three-ish hour workshop!
