Introduction to Drawing with Brush & Ink | Bari Zaki

from 145.00

Instructor: Bari Zaki. Currently offered only as a private or semiprivate three hour class. No previous drawing experience necessary. To request a date & time, add this class to your cart, and then email bz@barizaki.com with your preferred date(s) and time of day.

This process-oriented workshop will introduce you to the joys of using a brush rather than a pen or pencil. You’ll have more control than you might expect. You can make delicate, lively lines and experiment with creating shapes, contours, and textures that feel surprisingly natural. Drawing this way tends to foster a certain whimsy.

We will use seasonal botanicals for inspiration: flowers, plants, and pods.

Materials: In class, we will use an assortment of Japanese brushes and inks on various papers. Each student will receive a brush and a bottle of ink to take home to continue the exploration.

Our studio is light-filled, airy, and organized. You are welcome to browse our extensive library of books about bookbinding, calligraphy, and drawing. We look forward to sharing our love of paper, brushes, inks, & drawing with you in this three hour workshop!
