NEW Drop-spine Box | Bari Zaki

NEW Drop-spine Box | Bari Zaki

from 225.00

Instructor: Bari Zaki.

Date: Saturday, April 20 — 11am–2pm

What you’ll make: A fabric-covered box perfect for holding postcards, photos, or small desk accessories. Its archival structure is frequently used by collectors to protect cherished volumes and ephemera.

Each student will construct a two-part box (a pair of three-sided “trays”) joined by a drop-spine. We will fully line the interior with decorative paper. The interior dimensions are 5½ x 7½ x 2, ideal for a set of A-7 envelopes and cards.

Class Size: 3 students. (Also offered as a private or semiprivate four-hour class. No previous boxmaking experience necessary. To request a date & time, add this class to your cart, and then email with your preferred date(s) and time of day.)

Class fee includes all materials we use to make a box: binders-board, glue brushes, PVA adhesive, Japanese papers, bookbinding fabrics,, Xacto blade, bonefolder, scissors, ruler, triangle rulers.

By the end of this class you will have one completed box, plus the confidence to make more at home, thanks to our charming illustrated handout with step-by-step instructions.

Our studio is light-filled, airy, and organized. You are welcome to browse our extensive library of books about bookbinding, calligraphy, and drawing. We look forward to sharing our love of fabric, papers & boxmaking with you in this three-ish hour workshop!
