Introduction to Boxmaking | Bari Zaki

from 175.00

Instructor: Bari Zaki. Currently offered only as a private or semiprivate three-ish hour class. No previous boxmaking experience necessary. To request a date & time, add this class to your cart, and then email bz@barizaki.com with your preferred date(s) and time of day.

What you’ll make: This box is perfect for holding postcards or photos. Classic archival construction protects your paper treasures.

Each student will construct a box from pre-cut pieces of binders-board. You’ll cover your box with a combination of Japanese bookbinding fabrics & papers, and tie it off with a lovely ribbon. Voilà!

Your tray and cover will need to press overnight, which we’ll explain how to do at home.

Class fee includes all materials we use to make a box: binders-board, glue brushes, PVA adhesive, Japanese papers, bookbinding fabrics, Italian cotton ribbon, Xacto blade, bonefolder, scissors, ruler, triangle rulers.

Our studio is light-filled, airy, and organized. You are welcome to browse our extensive library of books about bookbinding, calligraphy, and drawing. We look forward to sharing our love of fabric, papers & boxmaking with you in this three-ish hour workshop!
