Instructor: Cat Bennett

Cat will return in 2019!

Our everyday lives are rich material for making art! In this workshop we’ll work with ordinary items from the kitchen to create our art—vegetables and fruits, teapots, plates and cups, various products and utensils. The things we live with all tell the story of our lives.

We’ll learn to simplify by working with shapes and strong descriptive lines. We’ll experiment with crayons, pastels and cray pas as well as opaque paints to get dramatic results. The exercises are guided but participants are encouraged to experiment and try things out in this class. We’ll look at the work of other artists to study the ways in which they use color and contrast.

Participants will receive a handout with suggestions about techniques and examples of artists working in strong graphic ways.

Bring your creative spirit! All materials are provided and all skill levels are welcome!

Our studio is light-filled, airy, and organized. You are welcome to browse our extensive library of books about bookbinding, calligraphy, and drawing. We look forward to sharing our love of drawing & painting with you in this three hour workshop!
